Emulation: As the Sega Saturn has faded into the mists of video gaming obscurity, I feel I must begin with some facts about the Utena game's platform itself. The Saturn is a 32-bit, CD based system roughly comparable to Sony's Playstation One. In America, the Saturn gained a reputation (for good or ill) as a system better suited to 2D games than 3D ones, and developers stopped supporting it within about three years of its release. However, it continued to thrive in Japan, and towards the end of the Saturn's life cycle, Shoujo Kakumei Utena: Itsuka Kakumeisareru Monogatari was released.

      What this means for you: Emulating this game is not easy to do.

      Because of the puzzling interplay of hardware components in the system, the Sega Saturn is very difficult to emulate. The only emulator that works anywhere near well, Girigiri Saturn, is a CPU-eating beast.

      Furthermore, the game is big.

      In case I didn't note it elsewhere, Itsuka Kakumeisareru Monogatari is fully voiced - every line of dialogue is spoken. That makes for two discs worth of data, and it would constitute too enormous a bandwidth sink for this website owner. I don't want to pay bandwidth overages or to have my account cancelled for hosting illegal material, so this site will never host an image of the game. Don't ask me for one.
